Polls: America's Economic Outlook Best In Almost Two Years

Rasmussen Reports runs a Seven Day Tracking Poll that measures our outlook on the economic conditions in the country.

Here is the question "Are economic conditions in the country getting better or worse these days?"

3500 adults are included in the sample over the course of the seven days, about 500 per day. And they are expected to respond with either: Better, Worse, Same, or Not Sure.

Historically, over the past 18 months, the lowest level for "Better" stood at 8% which was matched in the middle of February (February 12). But folks have become increasingly optimistic as time has passed.

The current "Better" stands at 23%, we would have to go back to mid-2007 to see results that high. The biggest jump during that span has come from investors who have seen the markets gain steadily.

But we should caution you, however, that the gains in the stock market could purely by psychological bumps due to the stimulus bills. And as a result be feeding into a "fake" sense of security in the average adult as to the direction of the economy.

The truth of the matter is, people are still losing their jobs. And when folks were asked about their own PERSONAL financial situation, the results are practically the same now as they were on February 12. The stock market could be a future indicator but it could also purely be speculative and bubble-prone at the moment.
